Layered Table Corals in Evening Reef Light

by Jack Shannon

Orange low-angle light washes over massive table corals arranged in tiered rows along a reef crevice. The flat, broad surfaces of the giant corals catch the honeyed glow, creating distinct planes of amber and deep shadow. Tiny plankton particles float in the water column, softening the background into a hazy distance where the reef drops away. The water holds a still, cool blue tone beneath the warm surface illumination. A narrow crevice runs between the coral formations, revealing rough, dark rock textures against the smooth, calcified tables. The lowest coral edge casts a sharp, dark silhouette against the lighter sandy bottom.
