Crocodile Lurking Near Rio Botafogo

Deep shadows engulf the water's surface where a crocodile rests just below the ripples. A thin rim of early morning light traces the curve of its snout and the rough, armored scales along its back. The air hangs heavy and humid, visible as a soft haze clinging to the dark water near the Botafogo shoreline. Wet skin glistens with droplets from the recent rain, reflecting the pale dawn sky above. Muscles tense beneath the hide as the creature remains perfectly still, its eye fixed forward with predatory alertness. The water around it is dark and opaque, broken only by the subtle displacement of its body. A final glint of light catches the wet edge of a scale, marking the boundary between the submerged form and the morning air.
