Corroded Dairy Tanks in Rainy Halifax Ruins

by Lila Arellano

Rich amber sunset light falls through steady rain, striking the rusted surfaces of stainless steel dairy tanks abandoned within collapsed cloisters. The metal, once bright, now wears heavy patches of brown corrosion that flake into the damp ground. Raindrops bead and slide down the curved walls, creating dark, glossy streaks against the oxidized texture. Layers of depth recede from the foreground tanks into the shadowed arches of the ruined structure behind. Wet stone cloisters frame the equipment, their gray surfaces glistening under the low, golden sky. The turn of seasons hangs in the air, visible in the bare branches pressing against the broken masonry. A final streak of water runs down a cracked tank seam, merging with a puddle of brown runoff.
