Abandoned Cannery Ruin at Blue Hour in among collapsed cloisters near Guayaquil

Abandoned Cannery Ruin at Blue Hour

by Karen Todd

Grey twilight settles over the skeletal remains of a cannery near Guayaquil, where rusted conveyor belts vanish into deep piles of accumulated dust. Heavy rain drizzles steadily, coating the decaying metal in a slick, dark sheen that reflects the distant, hazy glow of the town on the horizon. Broken stone cloisters frame the industrial wreckage, their arches standing as silent sentinels against the encroaching night. The air appears thick with moisture, visible in the way light diffuses through the falling rain. A narrow beam of amber light cuts through the gloom, illuminating floating dust particles and the wet, peeling paint on a support beam. at the edge rests on a single rusted bolt, glistening with fresh water against the dull grey metal.
