Punjab Station Ruin Under Noon Sun

by Chase Mack

Pale yellow light flattens the rusted iron ribs of a collapsed station canopy, where sheets of corrugated metal bow and vibrate against the dry mountain breeze. Ivy clings thickly to the crumbling red brick masonry beside the structure, its leaves dusty and brown from the dry season. Heavy gray cumulus clouds loom low over the horizon, casting shifting shadows across the fractured ground. Layers of weathered beams recede into the distance, showing deep abandonment. The metal surface shows patches of orange corrosion where paint has peeled away, revealing the raw iron beneath. One shard of broken glass lies near the base of a pillar, reflecting the harsh sky above.
