Winter Morning Lock Under Cape Town Bridge
Soft, overcast light washes the concrete canal lock, revealing the wet, gray texture of the basin walls. Wooden gates stand heavy and dark against the pale morning sky, their grain visible beneath a sheen of moisture. A cable-stayed bridge spans overhead, its steel cables converging toward a vanishing point deep in the frame. Mist and fine spray hover just above the water surface, clinging to the cold air of the dead of winter. The massive concrete pillars rise vertically, at the base of the structure with clear enduring monumentality. Water ripples gently where the mist breaks the surface, catching the diffused glow. at the edge is a single droplet sliding down the vertical wood grain of the nearest gate.
