Winter Drawbridge Deck Under Steel Viaduct at Sunset

Wet lacquered steel planks of a drawbridge deck reflect the deep orange glow of a setting sun. Rain-slicked surfaces turn the river light into shimmering ribbons that run parallel to the bridge's motion tracks. Above, heavy concrete pillars and rusted steel girders of a viaduct form a dark, geometric cage against a sky filled with dramatic, rolling clouds. The dead of winter leaves the surrounding landscape bare and muted, against the warm firelight on the wet metal. From a low angle near the ground, the structure looms with immense scale, its rivets and bolts catching the fading daylight. One droplet of water rests on the edge of a steel beam, refracting the sky's final colors.
