The drawbridge chain hangs heavy, its links reflecting the fading sunset glow that spills onto the wet ground below. Murder holes puncture the dark stone archway, creating deep recesses against the bright sky. The scene stands in the dead of winter, with bare branches visible in the distance and a crisp, clear atmosphere. Converging lines of the viaduct's girders guide toward a distant vanishing point, showing the civic-scale austerity of the structure. Water ripples slightly at the base, mirroring the steel beams above. A final sliver of light catches the edge of a rusted chain link.
