Silhouetted Starfish on Sardinian Volcanic Sand

Bright midmorning sun floods the shallow coastal water, turning the surface into a shimmering sheet of liquid light. A five-armed starfish rests on wet, dark volcanic sand, its form reduced to a sharp silhouette against the glowing water above. The sand grains are coarse and black, against the translucent, rippling surface that moves in slow, rhythmic waves. Clear mountain light penetrates the water column, illuminating the fine texture of the seabed and the subtle undulations of the ripples. The starfish lies motionless, anchored in the shallow pool near the volcanic drop-off, its edges defined by the intense backlight. A thin line of white foam traces the curve where the water meets the dark grainy shore.
