Silhouetted Mimic Octopus at Volcanic Drop-off

Deep shadow swallows the sandy seabed near a steep volcanic drop-off off the coast of Mumbai. Before sunrise, the water remains cool and motionless, broken only by slow surface ripples that fracture the dawn light. A mimic octopus presses against the sand, its body elongating and contorting into a dark silhouette. Rim light traces the edges of its mantle and tentacles, creating a luminous halo against the murky depths. The clarity of the water reveals fine grains of sand shifting slightly beneath its weight. Along the edge of the octopus, the bright rim light separates its dark form from the heavy shadows of the volcanic rock wall rising behind it.
