Golden firelight falls through exceptionally clear water, casting a warm glow on the textured arm of a starfish. The creature stands in silhouette against the fading sunset near Sanita, Naples, its thousands of tiny tube feet arranged in precise rows along the underside. Slow-moving surface ripples distort the light into shifting patterns across the starfish's rough, leathery skin. Late summer heat hangs heavy above, yet the water remains cool and still around the subject. Fine details of the skeletal structure beneath the translucent skin become visible as the sun dips below the horizon, leaving only the warm rim light to define the edges of the marine life. One tube foot grips the rocky substrate.
