Moray Eel in Sunken Ship Porthole Belize

Dark water fills the frame where a rusted iron porthole from a sunken vessel cuts a perfect circle against the gloom. Inside the metal ring, a mottled moray eel rests in shadow, its body coiled around the interior rim. Outside the circle, a volcanic reef overhang rises in silhouette, while the distant glow of Belize City lights creates a faint, cool rim along the top edge. Rainy season clouds the water with suspended particles that glitter like scattered diamonds when the ambient light hits them. The eel remains still, a dark shape against the faint illumination, its scales catching a single highlight. A fine line of sediment drifts across the bottom of the porthole frame.
