Sea Snake Gliding Through Branching Coral Reef in beside a reef crevice under clear water near Zanzibar

Sea Snake Gliding Through Branching Coral Reef

by Herman Prince

Sunlight pierces the clear tropical water of a Zanzibar reef, fracturing into shifting patterns of bright caustics across the sandy bottom. A sea snake with a patterned body threads through the rigid, branching fingers of a coral formation nestled beside a dark crevice. Fine suspended particles glitter in the water column, catching the midday light like scattered diamonds. The foreground coral displays rough, calcified textures in shades of pale brown and soft gray, while the background dissolves into a deep, still blue haze. The snake's scales reflect the fractured light, creating a shimmering ribbon of movement against the stationary, jagged reef structures. A small cluster of coral polyps remains visible on the nearest branch tip.
