Snowfall Over Tropical Coral Reef in Zanzibar

by Eve Ball

Crystal-clear shallow water reveals a vibrant coral reef beneath a rocky ledge near Zanzibar. The left half of the frame is blanketed by falling white snowflakes that drift slowly through the water, contrasting sharply with the right half where bright morning sunlight pierces the surface, illuminating orange and purple corals. A soft plankton haze blurs the distant reef wall, separating the frozen zone from the sunlit zone. The water surface ripples gently above the ledge, catching the low sun's glow on the horizon. Snow accumulates on the upper coral branches while the right side remains dry and warm. One snowflake rests against a textured coral polyp at the bottom edge.
