Shafts of sunlight pierce the deep blue water, illuminating a dense colony of sea pens swaying rhythmically in the current. These feathery organisms stand upright against the dark backdrop of a volcanic drop-off near Nakazakicho, Osaka. Fine plankton haze softens the distant background, creating a layered depth where light and shadow dance across the translucent, pinkish-brown stalks. The water remains clear enough to reveal the intricate texture of each feather-like appendage while blurring the far edges of the drop-off. Small particles drift slowly around the colony, catching the beams of afternoon sun that filter down from the surface. at the edge is a single sea pen tip bending slightly under the gentle push of the water.
