Shafts of bright noon sunlight pierce the deep blue water, illuminating a dense colony of sea pens swaying rhythmically in the current. The organisms stand tall and dark against the brilliant light, their feathery tips catching the glow. Tiny suspended particles glitter like dust motes throughout the water column, catching the beams as they drift. Fronds of kelp fringe the rocky shelf in the background, their long leaves trailing in the flow. The water is clear yet filled with floating debris, creating a shimmering texture around the silhouetted subjects. The light fades into deeper blue shadows at the edges of the frame, highlighting the vertical lines of the colony.
