Predawn Mushrooms on Rotting Log in Gobi Desert

Deep shadow blankets a fallen log where pale fungi cluster against the dark, fibrous bark. The predawn darkness holds the meadow in stillness, yet a thin rim of cool light traces the edges of the mushrooms and the rough wood. Above, dramatic clouds swirl in shades of slate and charcoal, pressing low against the horizon. The ground around the log shows sparse, dry grasses typical of an early winter landscape, their brittle stems catching faint highlights. The texture of the rotting wood appears soft and damp, against the hard, dusty earth. One spore-covered cap rests at the log's edge, its pale surface glowing slightly against the surrounding gloom.
