Obsidian Flow Field Silhouette Blue Hour Mist

by Ray Winters

Cool blue twilight washes the floodplain near Pokhara, turning the landscape into a wash of indigo and charcoal. A massive field of jagged obsidian lava flows dominates the foreground, its rough, glassy surfaces catching the last faint light. Thick mist rolls across the wet ground, softening the horizon and obscuring the distant hills. The black rock formations stand in stark silhouette against the pale, fading sky, their wind-carved edges sharp and distinct. Puddles on the floodplain reflect the dark shapes, doubling the texture of the cooled volcanic surface. The mist moves slowly over the wet stones. A small ridge of hardened lava rises on the left, its texture rough and pitted against the smooth, gray fog.
