Obsidian Flow Field Kashmir Shoreline Sunset in along a wave-cut shoreline in Kashmir

Obsidian Flow Field Kashmir Shoreline Sunset

by Brendan Acevedo

Orange low-angle light from the dropping sun illuminates a jagged field of black volcanic rock stretching along the wave-cut shoreline of Kashmir. The obsidian surface displays a rough, glassy texture with sharp fractures and uneven ridges that catch the fading warmth. Pale blue water laps gently against the dark, solidified lava, creating a stark contrast between the fluid edge and the rigid geology. Above, a perfectly clear sky transitions from deep azure to soft gold near the horizon. Early summer grasses rest on the rocky outcrops in the distance, while the shadow of a ridge falls across the foreground, showing the depth of the black stone against the bright water. One reflection of the orange sky glimmers on a wet patch of the obsidian near the waterline.
