New Zealand Hydrothermal Vent Tube Worms in in New Zealand

New Zealand Hydrothermal Vent Tube Worms

by Jake Carney

Sunlight penetrates the exceptionally clear water, casting hard coastal glare across a cluster of tall tube worms. The organisms stand in dense rows, their white, calcified tubes contrasting against the dark, mineral-rich sediment of the hydrothermal vent. Slow-moving surface ripples distort the light, creating shifting patterns of brightness and shadow on the worm clusters. The water clarity reveals fine details of the tube textures, while the shallow depth of field blurs the background into soft, dark gradients. One white tube tip catches the direct beam of light, glowing brightly against the deep blue surroundings.
