New Zealand Hydrothermal Vent Tube Worms

Sunlight penetrates the exceptionally clear water, casting hard coastal glare across a cluster of tall tube worms. The organisms stand in dense rows, their white, calcified tubes contrasting against the dark, mineral-rich sediment of the hydrothermal vent. Slow-moving surface ripples distort the light, creating shifting patterns of brightness and shadow on the worm clusters.
