Tube Worms Around Deep Sea Vent in Split Waters

by Jimmy Sullivan

Sunlight shafts pierce the deep blue water, illuminating a cluster of tube worms clustered around a dark hydrothermal vent. The worms stand tall with white, tubular bodies and feathery red plumes that sway gently in the current. The water remains exceptionally clear, revealing the rough, black texture of the volcanic rock beside the vent. Sunlight creates bright, dappled patches on the worms' surfaces, against the shadowed crevices of the drop-off. Small particles drift slowly through the illuminated beams, showing the stillness of the underwater environment. The red tips of the plumes glow vividly against the cool blue background.
