Silhouetted Jellyfish in Sydney Golden Hour Light

by Jodie Montgomery

Honeyed orange beams pierce the exceptionally clear water near Glebe, Sydney, illuminating suspended sand particles that glitter like floating dust. A solitary jellyfish drifts high above a steep underwater drop-off, its bell and trailing tentacles rendered as a stark, dark silhouette against the luminous shafts. The surface ripples gently overhead, distorting the light into shifting patterns of amber and deep blue on the ocean floor. Fine grains of sand catch the low-angle sun, creating a glowing haze that fills the space around the creature. The water remains still, allowing the jellyfish to hover motionless while the light reveals the texture of its translucent body edges before fading into the dark depths below.
