Monsoon Dik-Diks by Glacial Stream Thonburi

by Calvin McClure

Deep indigo twilight washes the scrubland near Thonburi, where a pair of dik-diks stand with eyes reflecting the pale blue light. Their fur holds the damp texture of the monsoon season, blending with the dry grasses and scattered shrubs. Behind them, the glacial stream cuts through the landscape, its surface mirroring the clear sky above. The animals remain still, their large dark eyes catching the last glow of evening. Shadows stretch long across the earth, showing the cool tones of the water and the warm browns of the vegetation. One ripple breaks the water's surface near a reed, distorting the reflection of the sky for a moment before settling again.
