Jack Fish Tornado Over Coral Reef Wall

by Beth Rodgers

Bright tropical sunlight penetrates exceptionally clear blue water, illuminating a coral wall where a school of jack fish swirls into a vertical tornado. The fish form a dense, spiraling column rising from the reef base toward the surface. A waterfall pours from a narrow crack in the coral rock, defying gravity as it cascades downward into the deep blue void. The water remains still at the surface with only slow-moving ripples distorting the light above. Layers of depth recede from the textured coral wall into the open ocean, creating a luminous submerged mystery. The impossible flow of water from the stone crack mixes with the swirling fish, at the base of the surreal element in sharp, visible reality. One ray of light catches the edge of the falling water.
