Inflated Pufferfish Near Venice Volcanic Drop Off

Clear dry mountain light penetrates the water, illuminating a pufferfish fully inflated into a rigid sphere. The fish hovers beside a steep volcanic drop-off where dark, rough rock contrasts with the pale, spiny texture of the subject. Fine plankton haze softens the background, creating a luminous gradient that fades the distance into a milky blue. Sunlight fractures across the fish's smooth, taut skin, highlighting the sharp points of its defensive spikes. Small particles drift in the current, catching the light like suspended dust. The water remains still enough to hold the fish in a perfect, suspended moment against the jagged geological edge.
