Thick, folded gray skin of an Indian rhinoceros dominates the foreground, its armor-like plates catching dappled sunlight filtering through an overhead canopy. The massive animal stands in shallow, murky water where ripples spread from its submerged legs. Tall marsh grasses sway violently in the wind, bending sharply against the breeze that whips the water surface into whitecaps. Patches of green and yellow foliage hang low, casting shifting shadows across the rhino's broad back. The perspective sits low near the mud, showing the creature's immense scale against the turbulent inlet. One droplet of water rests on the edge of a bent reed in the immediate foreground, trembling before falling.
