Forsaken Chapel Ruins in Wet Season Fog

by Beau Murillo

Wet season green blankets the ground where a chapel once stood, now reduced to crumbling stone walls and scattered rubble. Thick fog pools in the hollows of the ruin, rising just above the knee-high nettles that choke the overgrown yard. The air glows with a copper-toned warmth from the setting sun, casting long, soft shadows across the mossy stones. A broken archway frames a patch of gray sky, while the rough texture of weathered masonry contrasts with the delicate, stinging plants reclaiming the space. Near the base of a fallen pillar, a small patch of damp earth reflects the fading firelight of the day, at the base of the scene in quiet abandonment.
