Dragonfly Compound Eye Golden Light in above a glacial stream near Nyala

Dragonfly Compound Eye Golden Light

by Oscar Avery

Amber light washes over the faceted surface of a dragonfly's compound eye, turning each hexagonal lens into a tiny, polished gem of green and gold. The insect hovers just above a glacial stream where mist rises in a shimmering heat haze. Low-angle sunlight catches the fine hairs along the thorax, creating a halo of orange dust against the cool blue water below. The background blurs into soft greens and browns of the Nyala landscape at the turn of seasons. Each facet reflects the rippling current and the hazy sky, creating a mosaic of shifting colors. one drop of water rests on the edge of the wing, trembling in the stillness.
