Vibrant emerald facets and shimmering gold hues dominate the frame in an extreme close-up of a dragonfly's compound eye. Each hexagonal lens reflects the clear, dry air of an Austrian late summer morning. Tiny, blurred green reed tips skitter along the periphery where gusts disturb the dry stalks. The insect rests against a backdrop of soft-focus foliage, its exoskeleton catching the bright midmorning sun. A fine, dark shadow falls across the lower curve of the eye, defining the depth of the individual lenses against the golden rim. The texture of the compound structure appears sharp and precise under the unfiltered mountain light.
