Dragonfly Eye Green Gold Midmorning Light

Vivid green and metallic gold facets fill the frame, forming a convex mosaic of the dragonfly's compound eye. Each hexagonal lens reflects the bright midmorning sun against a backdrop of dramatic, heavy monsoon clouds. The insect rests motionless beside a tidal inlet in North Macedonia, its body blending with the damp vegetation. Sunlight catches the iridescent sheen on the eye's surface, creating sharp highlights that contrast with the deep shadows between the facets. The rule of thirds places the eye prominently on the right, leaving open space to the left where the blurred water meets the overcast sky. A tiny reflection of a passing cloud glimmers on the outer edge of the eye.
