Dragonfly Wing Cells in Highland Mist in beside a tidal inlet in the Scottish Highlands

Dragonfly Wing Cells in Highland Mist

by Kelsey Burns

Golden sunlight pierces the thick, gray mist hovering over a Scottish tidal inlet, illuminating the intricate lattice of a dragonfly wing. The transparent cells glow with amber light against a backdrop of dark, wet peat and blurred heather. Veins of amber and brown trace delicate networks across the fragile membrane, creating a sharp contrast with the soft, diffused fog. Low angle perspective places the wing against the moody horizon where the day is ending. Water droplets rest on the wing's edge, catching the fading light. at the edge is a single, perfect hexagonal cell glowing brightly against the shadowed background.
