Dragonfly Eye Catching Blue Light Above Glacial Stream
by Ross Bryan
Blue light strikes the intricate hexagonal facets of a dragonfly's compound eye, creating a mosaic of sharp, reflective surfaces. The insect rests above a fast-moving glacial stream, its translucent wings folded against a backdrop of white snowflakes falling gently through clear late-afternoon air. Early summer greenery lines the stream banks, against the cold water and the white particles drifting downward. The lighting is bright and tropical in intensity, illuminating the fine hairs along the insect's thorax and the deep blue hues within the eye's structure. Snowflakes hover in the air, some landing softly on the surrounding vegetation, while others drift past the dragonfly's head. One snowflake rests on the edge of a nearby leaf, its six-pointed geometry distinct against the green surface.
