Bioluminescent Waves on Cebu Coral Reef

Soft, diffused midmorning light penetrates exceptionally clear turquoise water, illuminating a shallow reef flat along a vertical coral wall. Tiny, glowing blue specks erupt in rhythmic bursts where gentle surface ripples break against the textured limestone below. The water remains still enough to suspend the bioluminescence in sharp focus, revealing intricate coral formations in shades of beige and pale orange. Fine sand grains drift lazily in the current, settling near the base of the wall. One cluster of glowing plankton rests on the rough edge of a coral branch, marking the boundary between the calm reef floor and the deeper blue expanse beyond.
