Sea Fan Bending in Dawn Current Cebu Reef

Cold silver dawn light falls through the water, illuminating a large sea fan coral clinging to a textured reef wall. The fan bends sharply to the right, its delicate branches swept by a strong current. Tiny suspended particles glitter like stars throughout the blue water column, catching the early morning glow. Below, the rough surface of the coral wall anchors the scene, while the open blue expanse fades into the distance behind the organism. The water remains still and quiet, holding the drifting weight of the rain season. One bright speck of light reflects off the wet edge of a coral branch.
