Cold silver dawn light falls through the water, illuminating a cuttlefish hovering beneath a dark reef ledge in the tropical shallows near Cebu. The creature's skin displays shifting patches of brown and white, mimicking the sandy bottom and rocky textures above. Fine plankton haze softens the background, creating distinct layers of depth that recede into the murky distance. The water remains perfectly still, freezing the cuttlefish's motion with absolute clarity. Sunlight penetrates the thermocline, casting a cool, ethereal glow that contrasts with the shadowed cave entrance. Small particles float in the beam, marking the transition between the sunlit surface and the deepening blue. The cuttlefish's tentacles curl gently, resting against the weightless current without disturbing the sediment below.
