Winter Turtle Hatchling Swimming Oregon Coast

Hard coastal glare fractures the water surface, casting jagged shards of light onto the sandy seabed. One flatback sea turtle hatchling glides through exceptionally clear, cold winter water, its dark carapace contrasting against the pale sand. The tiny flippers move with deliberate slowness, propelling the creature forward from behind. Ripples distort the sunlight into shimmering patterns that dance across the turtle's shell. The water remains still and weightless, isolating the small animal in a vast, blue expanse. Sunlight reflects off the smooth, wet curve of the turtle's rear shell edge.
