Wind Sculpted Yardangs on Brittany Salt Flats

by Elise Choi

Copper-toned light washes over a vast expanse of salt flats where wind has carved deep, parallel ridges known as yardangs. The terrain stretches diagonally from the upper left to the lower right, creating a sharp sense of tension across the frame. Low-lying ground fog pools in the troughs between the eroded formations, softening the transition to the distant surf-scalloped coastline of Brittany visible at the edge. Early spring air leaves the landscape bare, highlighting the rough, crystalline texture of the salt crust against the smooth, undulating curves of the wind-sculpted rock. Shadows lengthen across the ridges, showing the topographic depth. A sharp, white line of breaking surf marks the boundary where the flat meets the ocean.
