Misty Dawn Over Wind Carved Clay Yardangs
Soft morning light diffuses through a thin veil of mist, settling over a field of wind-sculpted clay ridges along a wave-cut shoreline. The pale ochre and dusty rose strata of the yardangs rise in parallel rows, their surfaces smoothed by eons of erosion into gentle, rolling waves. Late summer heat has not yet broken the cool air, leaving the ground dry and cracked in fine patterns between the formations. A perfectly clear sky stretches above, offering a stark blue contrast to the muted earth tones below. The ridges cast long, soft shadows that define their depth and texture, while the shoreline edge reveals layers of compressed sediment. In the foreground, loose gravel and small pebbles scatter across the base of the nearest ridge, at the base of the massive geological structures in tangible detail.
