Tropical Fish Swim Above Winter Ferns

Hard coastal noon light flattens the color palette over a forest floor lined with dense green ferns. Holly-like shrubs with serrated leaves stand in a cluster, their glossy surfaces reflecting the glare. A school of vibrant tropical fish, scales shimmering in orange and silver, drifts through the air at head height as if swimming through clear water. Leaves skitter across the damp earth in sudden gusts, caught mid-motion against the stark backdrop. The fish cast no shadows on the ground below, their bodies suspended in a transparent medium that defies the solid earth. The contrast between the frozen, early winter vegetation and the fluid, impossible movement of the aquatic school creates a sharp visual tension. A small fish turns near a fern frond, its fins brushing the air without disturbing the leaves.
