Fish Swimming Over Himalayan Cairn

Soft morning light after rain illuminates a high-altitude summit cairn near Thimphu, where stone markers rise above the tree line. The ground below displays a patchwork of allotment gardens in early winter dormancy, rendered with map-like clarity from a bird's-eye perspective. Heat shimmer distorts the air in gentle, wavy layers above the earth. Through this shimmer, a school of tropical fish swims horizontally at head height, their orange and blue scales distinct against the muted browns and grays of the landscape. The water surrounding the fish appears invisible yet holds them in suspension, creating a sharp spatial contrast between the solid stone cairn and the fluid, impossible creatures drifting just above the soil.
