Tidal Bore Wave Rising Before Sunrise in along a wave-cut shoreline near Holon

Tidal Bore Wave Rising Before Sunrise

by Victor Wilcox

Deep shadow covers the wet-cut shoreline near Holon as a powerful tidal bore surges upstream against the pre-dawn stillness. The water rises in a solid, churning wall of dark grey, its crest catching a sharp rim of pale morning light. Humid air hangs heavy, visible as a faint, cool mist clinging to the surface of the turbulent river. Dark, slick rocks line the riverbank, their surfaces gleaming with recent rain. The massive volume of water dominates the frame, pushing forward with geologic force. At the water's edge, a thin line of white foam separates the dark river from the shadowed earth.
