A wall of gray water surges upstream across the broad, flat expanse of the river near İskenderun. Before sunrise, the air holds a heavy, low-hanging mist that softens the horizon line where the valley floor meets the pale sky. Fine dust particles suspend in the diffused light, creating a hazy veil over the churning surface. The wave crest breaks into a frothy white edge, against the deep, steel-blue troughs below. Smooth, wet sand reflects the muted dawn tones along the riverbank. One, dark stone rests half-submerged in the receding foam at the water's edge.
