Tidal Bore Wave Rising on Argentine Shore in along a wave-cut shoreline in Argentina

Tidal Bore Wave Rising on Argentine Shore

by Tony Petersen

Soft overcast light spills across a wide river where a wall of water advances upstream along a wave-cut shoreline in Argentina. The gray-green surface of the tidal bore rises steeply, its frothy crest curling slightly as it meets the bank. Dry season grasses line the edge, brittle and pale gold, skittering in sudden gusts that ripple the water's surface. Low angle framing emphasizes the height of the approaching wave against the flat horizon. The shoreline reveals layers of eroded sediment and scattered driftwood resting in the wet mud. A final shadow stretches across the slick, churned earth where the water recedes.
