Spillway Apron Vibrating with White Water Below

by Diego Holmes

Pale morning haze softens the steel cables and concrete walls of the spillway at Leme. Turbulent white water churns violently against the apron, sending sheets of spray upward into the still air. The surface of the concrete reflects the pale light, while mist hangs low over the rushing flow. Warning sirens stand tall along the edge, their metal bodies gleaming faintly in the early dawn. The water crashes with visible force, creating a frothy texture that contrasts with the smooth, engineered surfaces of the dam. Droplets freeze in the air, catching the light just above the churning river. A fine mist rests on the top edge of the concrete wall.
