Dawn Foam on Kentucky Sluice Gate Bay

Cold silver light spills across the turbulent surface of a concrete sluice gate bay, turning the churning water into a sheet of frothy white foam. The wet concrete walls reflect the pale sky, creating a shimmering, distorted mirror of the morning. Beside the channel, a rusted metal ladder climbs the side of a water tower, its rungs catching the faint, cool glow. Late summer air hangs still, leaving no steam, only the sharp contrast between the dark, wet stone and the bright, aerated water. Strong geometric lines from the gate structure guide the view deep into the churning foam. at the edge is a small patch of dry, sun-bleached concrete near the ladder base, standing stark against the surrounding dampness.
