Cold silver dawn light washes over the massive concrete spillway of a hydroelectric dam in León de Los Aldama. A towering wall of churning white water crashes downward from the intake, creating a dense mist that hangs in the still air. The wet concrete surface gleams with a slick, dark sheen, reflecting the pale sky above. Heat shimmer rises gently from the sun-struck stone sections, blurring the hard edges of the infrastructure against the cool morning air. Heavy steel gates stand closed and silent beside the roaring flow. The low angle emphasizes the sheer scale of the structure, making the water appear as a vertical curtain of froth. A thin ribbon of foam rests on the rough, pitted edge of the concrete base.
