Rusted Flensing Platforms Amid Sikkim Cloisters
Bright midmorning sun floods a wide expanse of collapsed stone cloisters where a derelict whaling station sits abandoned. Heavy steel flensing platforms, stripped of paint and covered in orange rust, dominate the foreground, their jagged edges catching the clear dry mountain light. Broken arches frame the scene, their surfaces weathered by late summer heat and time. The stone masonry shows deep fissures where vegetation has taken hold, against the smooth, corroded metal of the industrial equipment. A perfectly clear sky stretches overhead, casting sharp, short shadows that define the depth of the ruin. In the distance, the silhouette of a mountain ridge rises above the broken walls, at the base of the scene in the high altitude of Sikkim. The final rust stain runs down a vertical beam, marking the slow passage of years.
