Dawn Light Through Ruined Station Canopy in Puglia in inside a roofless nave in Puglia

Dawn Light Through Ruined Station Canopy in Puglia

by Leonard Gross

Pale morning light falls through the jagged gaps where glass once held the roof of a derelict station in Puglia. The open nave exposes the structure to a sky soft with early spring clouds. Deep shadows pool across the concrete platform, contrasting with thin rim light tracing the broken iron beams overhead. A thick bank of fallen leaves and debris rests against the platform edge, damp from a light drizzle that has settled on the stone. Moss rests on the lower walls, while the air appears heavy with moisture. at the edge is one drop of water sliding down a rusted beam into a puddle reflecting the gray sky.
