Abandoned Bathhouse Mosaic Ruins Evening Fog in among collapsed cloisters in Campania

Abandoned Bathhouse Mosaic Ruins Evening Fog

by Alejandro Bullock

Steel-blue twilight settles over the crumbling stone cloisters of a Campania bathhouse, where fragments of colorful mosaic tiles cling precariously to the remaining walls before falling to the damp ground. Thick ground fog pools in the hollows between broken arches, obscuring the lower foundations while the upper structures stand stark against the fading sky. Late summer heat has long dissipated, leaving the air still and heavy with the silence of abandonment. Moss carpets the fractured limestone, softening the sharp edges of the ancient masonry. A jagged piece of blue glass tile rests on a mossy step, its vibrant hue against the grey dust and the deep shadows of the enclosing ruins.
