Water beads form on rough concrete surfaces inside a dam inspection gallery, tracing slow paths down hairline cracks in the gray masonry. Above, the spillway chute sends a fine mist into the air, catching the copper-toned glow of late afternoon sun. Autumn leaves in shades of burnt orange and deep russet rest on the damp floor near the drainage channel. The low angle emphasizes the massive scale of the concrete walls towering overhead. Moisture rests on the texture of the stone, creating dark streaks that contrast with the warm, fading light filtering through the opening. One drop hangs suspended at the edge of a seam before falling into the shadowed channel below.
